Dog Is Afraid of the Bark PottyUpdated 6 months ago

You may be able to get your pup comfortable with the Bark Potty by gently putting them on it and giving a super special treat each time. Over time, once they get more used to simply being on it, withhold the treat and give your potty command, withholding it as a reward for going potty. That has worked for other customers whose dogs seem scared of it at first.

Another suggestion to is mark the potty with urine to accelerate the training process. If they are puppy, I'd recommend using their own urine just to be safe but this does help get them familiar with associating it as a potty as quickly as possible. All you need to do is wad up a paper towel and put it under their dog's urine stream to collect some of their smell. You can also just get the smell from a popular fire hydrant in your neighborhood, the dog park, or anywhere that you notice other dogs peeing by wiping the wet paper towel on it as well. After collecting, simply wipe the wet paper towel on the potty to transfer the sent (Do not leave the towel on it). This trick has worked for most dogs to encourage associating as a potty.  Its an interesting thing to do but it is effective - we promise!
